ETHICS FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT PROFESSIONALS

Every year huge sums of taxpayers’ money are spent by governments on goods and services. With so much money changing hands, few government activities create greater temptations or offer more opportunities for corruption. Organisations need to take responsibility for ethical procurement or sustainable purchasing in their business. This course presents the guiding principles, standards and professional conduct expected of public sector practitioners. This course will also add value to public officials who are seeking to develop a career pathway towards becoming an accomplished public procurement and supply chain professionals.

This is a two (2) day intensive course. The course is conducted through:

  • Regular scheduled public courses
  • On-site (In house) courses for organisations or sectors’

The course is suitable for middle to senior managers responsible of procurement and supply chain practices.

Relevant work experience

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the core ethical values and standards, which apply to the public
    sector.
  • Outline ethical values and standards contained in legislation and codes, which
    have relevance to the conduct of employees in the public sector.
  • Describe areas of ethical conflict for public sector employees.
  • Explain the importance of ethical values and standards in relation to the public
    sector workplace.
  • Discuss the relevance of established professional ethics and codes of conduct
    in public sector procurement.

Module 3: Governance and bid committee members
Module 4: Bid rigging as supply chain management fraud
Module 5: Abuse of public procurement systems
Module 6: Disputes and complaints

This practical two-day course is designed for personal development. The format of
the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective and relevant to the participants. The facilitator will stimulate discussion relating to your work experiences.

A certificate of completion of course will be awarded to delegates who attend and
complete the training course as well as the award of CPD points.
