CONFLICT AND RESOLUTION MANAGEMENT
Conflicts have become more complex, whether inter-personal, organisational, inter-group or inter-state in nature – complicated by issues of technology, power relations, access to economic resources, gender, race and ethnicity. Complexity brings with it the challenge to resolve multi-faceted conflicts, and demands creativity and extraordinary insight. This course provides an overall understanding of conflict and conflict analysis, and to impart the skills to become an effective conflict resolution practitioner. The course is designed to identify and manage the resolution of personal conflict between individuals or teams. This 2-day Conflict Management course will provide you with real-life useful strategies to help you handle problem situations.
This is a two (2) day intensive course. The course is conducted through:
- Regular scheduled public courses
- On-site (In house) courses for organisations or sectors’
This course is suitable for everyone who would like to get the most out of their day
can attend this course. All levels of workforce will benefit from this course.
It is assumed that the learners are competent in the following:
- Communication (NQF level 4)
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Understand the main sources of conflict
• Analyse and understand the nature of conflicts
• Describing appropriate techniques to manage conflict
• Implementing skills and strategies to manage and resolve conflict
• Develop the confidence to tackle conflict effectively
• Developing the attributes of a good conflict leader
• Handling customer complaints

This is a credit bearing course and aligned to the unit standard (US 12139). The
format of the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective and relevant to participants. Therefore, the course will involve lectures, Practical exercises, Case
Studies:
- Lectures: approximately 60%
- Practical exercises: Group interaction/ team work on practical exercises and
case studies approximately 40%
Assessment of this module will be both formative and summative. The summative
assessment at the end of the module will test whether the learner can meet the set
standards. Learners will be required to successfully complete a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which will be assessed and moderated.
After successful completion of the course and assignment the participants will
receive a certificate of competence, which carries 5 credits at NQF level 6.
