CHANGE MANAGEMENT

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to apply the
principles of change management in the workplace. Learners credited with this
course will be able to demonstrate an understanding of diversity among people and
in particular in a specific workforce, the role and importance played by managing
change in attitudes, and the attributes of a good change agent in South Africa.

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Explain why change management is an important process for organisations to
    achieve sustainable trading results
  • Identify examples of planned change and reactive change in an organisation
  • Describe a model for effective change management and its management
  • Identify reasons for resistance to change and indicate ways to overcome them
  • Identify the risks inherent in any change management programme and
    indicate ways to manage them
  • Identify and apply the competencies of an effective change agent

Module 1: Introduction to change management
Module 2: Planned for change and reactive change in an organization
Module 3: Model for effective change management and its management
Module 5: Risks inherent in any change management programmes
Module 6: Identify and apply the competencies of an effective change agent

This is a credit bearing course and aligned to the unit standard (US 115407). The
format of the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective and relevant to participants. Therefore, the course will involve lectures, Practical exercises, Case
Studies:

  • Lectures: approximately 60%
  • Practical exercises: Group interaction/ team work on practical exercises and
    case studies approximately 40%

Assessment of this module will be both formative and summative. The summative
assessment at the end of the module will test whether the learner can meet the set
standards. Learners will be required to successfully complete a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which will be assessed and moderated.

After successful completion of the course and assignment the participants will
receive a certificate of competence, which carries 10 credits at NQF level 5.
