VISIONARY LEADERSHIP
This course is useful to participants who are working within a Public Sector, Local Government, commercial or community environment, and will fulfil a leadership role as part of their job. The course will add value to public officials who are working with integrated development planning or public sector management and administration specialists.
This is a three (3) day intensive course. The course is conducted through:
- Regular scheduled public courses
- On-site (In house) courses for organisations or sectors’

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Explaining the purpose of visionary thinking in a leadership context
- Analyse current context and trends to develop strategy
- Compiling scenario plans
- Apply selected scenarios into strategic and business planning processes
- Evaluate scenario planning

This is a credit bearing course and aligned to the unit standard (US 120311). The
format of the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective and relevant to
participants. Therefore, the course will involve lectures, Practical exercises, Case
Studies:
- Lectures: approximately 60%
- Practical exercises: Group interaction/ team work on practical exercises and
case studies approximately 40%
Assessment of this module will be both formative and summative. The summative
assessment at the end of the module will test whether the learner can meet the set
standards. Learners will be required to successfully complete a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which will be assessed and moderated.
After successful completion of the course and assignment the participants will
receive a certificate of competence, which carries 10 credits at NQF level 5.
